Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I am currently on a study abroad program and am trying to keep people updated on my comings and goings.

Thursday (the 26th) was my last day in Provo until school starts again in the fall. It was also my last night ever in Raintree! It has been a good place to live the past two years and I have loved the ward, but I am excited for a change. I will definitely not miss having 6 people to an apartment. But today I left for my study abroad! I am doing a program in London for 6 weeks that starts tomorrow on July 1st. We are spending the first week in Ireland, then the next 4 in London, and then the last week in Scotland, Wales, and northern England. This program is being put on by the Linguistics and English Language department, so I am taking 2 classes that I need for my major, which is basically perfect.

This morning my mom and brother and I got to the airport in Vegas at right around 9:30 (my flight was supposed to leave at 10:30). We went outside and did the curbside check in, and the guy there was freaking out! He was all worried and said he wasn’t sure if I could get my bag onto the plane and that I needed to run to catch my flight. That sort of set me into hurry mode right away. So he got my bag on and then shooed me away to go to my gate. Of course once I actually got to my gate at about 9:55, the plane wasn’t even there yet even though it was supposed to start boarding at 10. So I sat at the gate for a while, got some lunch, and just chilled for about an hour until the plane finally started to board. Then I got to the front of the line to get in and I just had a paper boarding thing I had printed from online. The lady looked at it and was really confused, but let me go. Then like 5 seconds later she called me back and told me my information had not been submitted or something weird. So I had to stand with her at the desk while she typed in my passport and basically I found out the lame guy from before was supposed to have given me a boarding pass but he didn’t. Of course. He was also supposed to have given me my next 2 boarding passes which he also didn’t do. But I eventually got onto the plane and all was well. Once I got to L.A. – by the way, I flew from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to Atlanta to Shannon, Ireland – I got super confused. I had not been to that airport for a really long time and it is so messed up. Eventually I realized I had to go to terminal 5, and I was currently in terminal 7. But before I could go to my gate, I had to wait in a line for 20 minutes to get my boarding passes. So I walked outside for a while and found my terminal, went through security again, etc. I just love airports. When I got on the plane I sat next to a lady who I could just tell really wanted to talk to me. However, I just sort of sat there and read my magazine. And she never talked to me. I really should talk to more random people because they are usually really interesting when I do. I have this weird fear that I will start talking to someone and then we will run out of things to say and then we will both just sit there awkwardly for the rest of the flight feeling like we should say something. Hmm, maybe I will work on that. But anyway, I decided flying is not really my transportation of choice. I sort of feel sick the whole time and I can never sleep very well on the planes. But then, it is the most convenient so I am not going to complain and just be grateful I don’t have to walk everywhere I go.

Oh, and I had a really funny dream last night. I was at Raintree with my roommates but Robyn wasn’t there, so I think it was me, Kim, Erin, and Virginia actually. Kari was somewhere out of the apartment at the time. So one day we were all there and Jaime Lynn Spears moved into our apartment because I guess we had a spare room. She was just staying there for about a week because she was on tour (I have no idea what for) and she did not have a baby nor was she pregnant. So anyway, she kept bringing guys into her room and none of us felt comfortable with that. One night she was sitting alone in the hot tub and all of us decided we would go talk to her about the situation. We went and told her we were uncomfortable with all the guys, and asked her to stop. She asked why we cared, so we told her about the church and our standards. She was really excited about the church and asked tons of questions, so we stayed in the hot tub forever answering them all. Then the next day she got baptized. Random! Maybe this dream means that while I am in London I will meet a celebrity that I will introduce to the church . . . or not.
