Week 11 - Liberty Jail

November 23, 2009

Hello everyone!

Well I wish I had a lot to tell you this week, but unfortunately I don't. I mentioned I had a cough last week- well I continued to have it this week. I wasn't really feeling sick, I just had a cough that wasn't going away. But then on Thursday I started to feel sick again, like big headache and that sick feeling you get where you don't really feel like your head is connected to your body. Do you know what I mean? Then on Friday we were at the jail in the morning, and I felt that way again. Finally I went into one of the rooms and just fell asleep. When I got up we had gotten permission to go to the doctor, so a couple of the senior elders gave me a blessing and off we went. It was so weird though because I couldn't even think or walk in a straight line really because my head was so foggy. Anyway, we went to the doctor and found out I had bronchitis! Joy. The doctor said I had gotten a cold, and that combined with my allergies had turned into bronchitis. Probably the being out in the cold all the time hasn't helped much either. :) But we went home and I fell asleep, and my companion had started to not feel good either so we both slept. The next day was hilarious! We were both feeling sick all day (she was a different sick than me) so we didn't even leave the house all Saturday. We slept a lot and I took my medicine and we just got all rested up, which was a blessing. Thankfully we only had a couple of appointments to reschedule, and some ward members even brought us soup. Yesterday and today I am feeling a lot better, still a little weak but almost back to my old self.

Anyway. That is enough about that. It is really frustrating to not be able to go out and do the work you want to do, but I also know it is important to be healthy so it is possible to do it. Like I said we didn't get a lot of lessons in this week, but we did see a few less-actives that I am really excited about because they are coming back into activity. It is great to see people who have been away from the church for whatever reason rediscover their testimony and start coming back to church again. We are also still working with BB to quit smoking so he can be baptized. I think we are going to commit him to a date early in January that we feel like he can reach. But he is doing much better! He is getting some help from the state to help him quit, and I really think he will do it soon. One of my favorite times of the week is going to gospel principles class on sunday where he and his wife go. They always ask awesome questions and we have a really good discussion. It is an amazing experience to just watch as people learn and accept the gospel, and as ward members help them feel more welcome in the ward. I love it!

Well, besides that we are really going to focus on getting to know the members better and build relationships with them. I am really excited about this since I know I will probably be in this ward until at least February, so this will help us. The ward missionary committee is really coming together and we are working on making a really good ward mission plan for next year. It is going to be great!

I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving! We are going to be going to a member's home for dinner and then probably spend the rest of the day tracting- it is our full proselyting day! We have some ideas about getting people to let us in, we shall see how it goes. Also, it is my mom's birthday tomorrow! Make sure to wish her a happy birthday!!!

Love you all!

P.S. If you have been reading these letters on my blog and you still haven't written me, you are now committed to write me a letter before Christmas! I am excited to hear from you! :)
