Day 41
Today we went to church in the morning at 9. We had to walk from our hostel to the church, and it took probably about half an hour. It was pleasant weather, for which I was grateful. As usual we invaded the chapel and aroused curiosity but I think the ward enjoyed having us visit. I enjoyed the ward and everyone was really friendly and welcoming. After church we were picked up by our coach to take us back to the hostel, which was good because it started being cold and windy and threatening rain. We got back to change and load our bags then were once again on the road again. We drove for about an hour to a place called Fountains Abbey, which is an old ruin of an Abbey surrounded by a river and a lake and other stuff- it was like a 70 acre property or something like that.
At first I wasn’t really excited because when we got there it was cold and really windy and started raining and since I still didn’t feel very well, this especially didn’t make me very happy. But we walked around the Abbey and an old mill, and then decided to walk toward a water garden to see if it was far. At this point the weather started cooperating and actually turned pretty nice. Robyn and I enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll by the river and water garden and got to the lake, then turned around and walked back. It was really pretty and I ended up being glad we went.
After our detour we were back on the road again for a while on our way to Stratford. On this leg of the journey I really started feeling sick to my stomach and at one point thought I would throw up- but luckily I was able to make myself fall asleep and just avoid it altogether. We made a stop to get dinner and then got to our hostel at around 9. I am really excited because this is our last hostel of our coach tour! Tomorrow night we will be back in London for the night then it is home. I can’t say I am sad- I have been dreaming about being home in the warmth and my comfortable bed for the past 2 nights. I am definitely glad I have had this experience, but as I’m sure you can tell from the last two whiny posts- I am ready to go home!
