Day 43

Today most people left to go to the airport at either 6 or 9, but since Robyn and I are not leaving until later we said goodbye to everyone and then packed. We are also not just going straight from London to home, but going back to Shannon and then flying from there tomorrow home. So we packed our bags and then just chilled for a while before going to the nearest train station to ride to Gatwick. Once there it was super stressful. We flew Ryanair (a cheap airline in Europe) to Shannon and they have ridiculous restriction on bags. Their limit for your checked bag is 15 kilos, which is about equivalent to 33 pounds. This is not for each bag, but for all of them put together. Most airlines have a limit of about 50 pounds, so this is a little crazy especially since we have been traveling for over a month and have more stuff than 30 pounds. We tried to put all our heavy stuff in our backpacks but we still ended up being about 4 kilos over together and we had to pay. So stupid. As I said, all that weight is going on the plane no matter what, so why do they make you pay? Because that is the way they make money. Never again.

So we got to Shannon at around 4 and got a cab to our hotel for the night. We had one goal and one goal only while there and that was to go buy chocolate, which I hadn’t done yet because I knew there was no way I would have been able to carry it on our Ryanair flight. Our hotel was just a little outside of Limerick, so we walked about 20 minutes to get to the nearest Tesco. It was a little scary because this walk was not on sidewalks but mainly on open highway with cars speeding past. We feared for our lives a little but we got there ok and all was good. We got our chocolate and then walked back and got some dinner. We went to bed, and I dreamed of tomorrow when I would finally be home.
