Vacation - Day 6

Today was the best because it was actually good weather! Besides the day we went to Yale, this trip has been very rainy and sometimes cold. We decided to do and outdoor thing and take advantage of the sunshine. We went to Plimouth Plantation, which is another kind of recreation village. This one was set in 1627, so just a few years after the Mayflower. This village was fun because all the people in it were acting like they were actually people living there, not just tour guides to explain things. They would get these confused looks on their faces and ask why you were there. But of course the best was when one of the men of the village told my dad to bring me and my sister around to his house that night so we could meet the two single men living with him-he wanted to marry them off. I was really disappointed later in the day when my parents wouldn’t let us go back.

After the plantation we drove to downtown Plymouth Harbor. Here we looked at Plymouth Rock (which is really overrated by the way) and I discovered the original Massasoit statue! For those who don’t know what that is and go to BYU, it was the naked Indian statue! For those who don’t know what that is and don’t go to BYU, on campus we have this statue we call the naked Indian statue because it is a statue of an Indian very scantily clad. And the same statue was there at the harbor. It was so exciting I could barely contain myself.

We also got on the Mayflower II, which is a recreation of the Mayflower that was built in the 1950s I think. It was ridiculously small. I am so glad I don’t have to travel on a boat like that with almost a 100 other people on board!

Oh, we also ate lunch there which I mention only because my brother ordered bacon pancakes. What is that you ask? Oh you know, pancakes with bacon strips cooked into them. Not even lying. At the end of the day we went to Scusset Beach, which is a beach at the base of Cape Cod. It was a really fun stop and it was great to get out in the sun after so many rainy days.

In other news: my bishop texted me today and told me my mission call was mailed yesterday! That means it should be there when we get home!
