Vacation - Day 8 aka The End

Today was our last full day! I am kind of sad it is over, but actually not really all that sad. Right now I just want to get home and open my mission call! Today, of course, was again rainy and overcast. Today was Maine day. We mainly (haha) just drove up to Maine and then drove around. We got off the freeway and decided to drive along the coast, which was a good idea because otherwise all you can see is trees left and right. This proved to be a very good idea. We had a nice leisurely drive up the coast which is very different from the west coast by the way. Lots of it is very rocky, and I can’t imagine the water was very warm on a day like today. We saw a bunch of surfers really close to the rocks-they must be pretty hard-core to do that! I would be afraid I would be swept into a rock and be pierced or something. Gross.

Anyway, we stopped off at a lighthouse of course and looked around. So I was thinking about this today-what do you think about when you think of Maine? Is it famous for anything? I think about lighthouses. My mom said lobster and blueberries. And that was pretty much it. I can’t think of a single important thing that has happened in Maine, although I’m sure there is something…but nevertheless, it was very beautiful.

After driving a little bit more we stopped in the town of Ogunquit and ate at the Wild Blueberry Café. I decided to get the wild blueberry pancakes so I could sample something Maine is famous for. We then kept on driving and got up to Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, which are actually two different towns. The main attraction here for us (really for my brothers and dad) was the Bush compound. That sounds a little sketchy, but really I just mean the Bushes (as in our former president George W.) have a huge house there. It actually looked like they might have been there.

Anyway, we drove around a little bit more and then drove back down to our hotel because we had to turn in our rental car. I will not miss that car, and I’m sure my dad will really not miss it. So that was the trip! The last trip we will take all together for a while.
