Today was the first Sunday in London! As I said earlier I was assigned to go to the Lea Valley ward along with 6 other girls from the group. We had to take the tube for a while to get there and at one point we had to get off and switch trains at a station called Seven Sisters. I thought that was just the most amazingly funny/ironic thing ever in the world (seven of us, seven sisters, haha!). We finally got there and figured out how to walk there and we were just in time for Relief Society to start. The Lea Valley ward is a very multi-cultural ward. It is mainly made up of English Africans (I wanted to call them African-Americans earlier but then realized they aren’t . . . ) and some are actually from Africa and came to England recently. The lady who taught RS you could tell English was not her first language, so it was pretty darn hard to understand her. She spoke really fast and I probably only caught under half of what she said. I wanted to answer her questions- at one point she even asked “the BYU girls” specifically a question- but I couldn’t ever understand what the question was. The rest of church was good and everyone was really friendly and happy to see us. After sacrament we went up to talk to the 1st counselor in the bishopric because the bishop wasn’t there. He basically just got our names and told us he would be putting us to work right away- they assign BYU students like us to these wards so we can help out in the primary and youth, etc. So I will most likely be put in the primary, but we shall see.
After church we went back home and just chilled, which was a nice break after all the going we have been doing. I think it is starting to catch up to me a little bit! Robyn and I sat on our beds and read and facebooked and stuff, and then we made some dinner and hung out with Marissa and Mandy. We talked about maybe taking a travel weekend and going to somewhere cool like Prague or something, but after looking at prices and thinking about all the hassle we think maybe not. I mean, we are already in London! And there are still many more plays to be seen. :)
