Day 30

TODAY WAS OUR LAST DAY OF CLASS! But I wasn’t excited or anything. Yep, so in the morning we went to class. I am going to miss the good ol’ Hyde Park Chapel and saying hi to the nice security guard and seeing missionaries and eating PB&J during class. But I am still excited to be done with class. So besides that, today was our second double feature day of the trip! By double feature I mean two plays in one day. Our first was The Lion King matinee at 2, so we had to rush over after class ended at 1 to get there on time. It was great! I have seen it once before and really liked it- the costumes are amazing! They do all kinds of fun stuff to dress up as animals and a lot of it looks really realistic, especially with the movements they do. There were of course tons of children running around and I decided it would be a really fun show to take my kids to.

After this we had a while before our next show started at 7:30, so we went down by the river and walked for a minute, then sat in Embankment Gardens for a while and read and did Sudoku. Then we got dinner, and went to our next show- Dirty Dancing the musical! Amazing. We had bought these really cheap tickets that were on the side of the stage like in one of those boxes. Note: you cannot see anything from those, even if they seem cool. Don’t do it. So we were on the top balcony and there was no one on half of the front row. The ushers came and told us we could move there if we wanted, so it was great! The music is basically just all the music they have in the movie, some of it they sing and some of it they just play in the background. It was so funny because every time there was a famous quote from the movie or famous scene everyone freaked out and cheered and stuff. “Nobody puts Baby in a corner!” Classic.

After the show we were on a happy high, unlike last night when I was depressed because they died. We walked back down to the river and walked along it until we got to Westminster. Right after we passed Embankment station who do we see coming our way? The Italians that live in our building! Seriously what are the chances?!!! We saw their yellow backpacks and were all just thinking “you have got to be kidding me.” They actually recognized us too, and we kind of ran away from them when we saw them and one of them said “you duck?” It was great. But seriously, I hate them all with their little yellow backpacks and their cigarettes even though they are only like 14 and the way they run around the building and wake everyone up and yell into my window every night. They are great! So besides that, the walk was fun! The weather was perfect for a night stroll along the river, and we took some cute pictures and enjoyed talking. It was a good day!
